More info

This brand has been established back in 1879, in the UK, by the Redstone family, at a time when cigarettes were just appearing as a form in tobacco consumption.

This is one of the oldest cigarette brands that survived all the excitement of the 20th century and successfully lived up to the 21st century.

Several generations of the Redstone family mixed tobacco for cigarettes using secret family recipe and the cigarettes were just hand-made! No machines were used in production!

Brand name was given in honour of an aristocratic Russian club – the Russian Noble Assembly (“Sobranie” in Russian), which has its office in the London district of St James. Production of cigarettes Sobranie long time was carried out manually, so their cost was unattainable for the majority of smokers.

Sobranie cigarettes from the very beginning of production were positioned as a brand for the elite, with the highest level of quality. Sobranie exclusively supplied to the court of the Russian Empire, to the court of the United Kingdom, to the elite of Spain, Romania and Greece.

For the exceptional quality of cigarettes, the Redstone family, from the court of the Russian Empire, was granted the right to use the image of the national emblem of Russia. This is an exceptional and unprecedented case in the history of the tobacco industry.

Tobacco for these cigarettes was delivered from different parts of the world. Aromatic sort Oriental from Greece and Turkey mixed with American and Brazilian tobacco, and the result was a rich taste and, at the same time, fragrant mixture.

In the forties of the last century, the demand for the products of tobacco factories increased. Like other companies, the Sobranie trading house is moving to machine production. At the same time, the geography of sales is expanding. By 1960, the company's products were sold in more than 100 countries.

And although Sobranie cigarettes available today, it is quite different cigarette. The original recipe for the famous cigarettes changed in the early 1980s, when the rights of the brand and production bought by the Gallaher Group from England. Production was modernized, the recipe was simplified in according to tastes of the European consumers", and factories moved to the territory of Europe.

In 2007, Gallaher Group, with all its assets, was acquired by the world tobacco giant - Japan Tobacco. But regardless of the owner, for the past 138 years, Sobranie is the standard of the highest quality and luxury. The standard worthy of Royal houses and the highest elite.

Today, the modern brand is primarily known for two flavours - the so-called "evening cocktails", Sobranie Cocktail and Sobranie Black Russian. These exclusive flavours differ both in the tobacco and in pack design.

Modern brand asset includes 11 flavours of cigarettes, covering all ranges of nicotine levels. All flavours are sold worldwide, with the exception of Sobranie Yellow - this edition is a aromatized flavour (citrus and menthol) and created only for the Chinese market.

For many years people smoke Sobranie cigarettes. Before the First world war, Smoking cigarettes of Oriental blend was associated primarily with this brand. They were smoked by officers of the British army, members of British clubs around the world. Sobranie cigarettes were officially delivered to Royal cruise ships and served at Royal banquets. By the 1920s, cigarettes "Sobranie" finally received recognition in the high society of London and beyond – many famous writers and artists, in particular Herbert wells, Romain Rolland, Erich Maria Remarque, Oscar Wilde preferred this brand. World-famous Opera singer Fyodor Chaliapin was an avid smoker of Sobranie cigarettes, and one of the flavours of "Sobranie" was named after him. It is known that even the famous Russian writer Maxim Gorky ordered from London to Capri his favourite Sobranie cigarette.
